Papa's house has been a very special place ever since we moved to Los Angeles. Nathan was just a baby then, but we loved to come and see Papa. We spent alot of time there and have many wonderful memories. Memories are a funny thing. We build them with people, but when those people are gone, we hold on to whatever we can to keep those memories alive. We were so sad when Papa passed away. He was loving, hardworking, and kind. We miss him so much. Today we went to say good bye to his house and help finish clearing things out. It was sad to think we will not be going there anymore. I guess the sad part was the realization that he was gone and that chapter has closed. I asked the kids their favorite things about Papa. Nathan said it was that he "worked hard and never asked for help." Sarah said it was his roses. As we left today, I just wanted to keep looking back, remembering the wonderful times we shared there with all of our family. I guess that is what memories really are. We can take them with us-even when we have to leave things behind that mean so much. I am so thankful we lived here and got to know Papa. My favorite thing about Papa were his stories. I hope to pass those on so they are not forgotten.
